About Sensing Change
Our vision is to become the leading provider of services to adults with sight and hearing loss throughout the east of England and beyond. We have come a long way since our set up in October 2011 and the services that we provide are founded on strong values and key personalisation issues – promoting independence and inclusion, increasing confidence, progression and choice.
We believe that early intervention and prevention are fundamental to good practice. Sensing Change is run by people who have the professional expertise, skills and knowledge necessary to deliver good quality services. We are able to provide a timely response, increasing positive outcomes for individuals by ensuring their needs are met swiftly and appropriately.
There are over 114,000 Deaf or Hard of Hearing people in Suffolk or 1 in 7 of the population. There are over 5,000 people registered as being sight impaired or severely sight impaired. Over 700 have a combined sight and hearing loss.
Since 2011, Sensing Change has enabled over 5,000 adults in Suffolk to maintain and increase their independence through the provision of information, advice, equipment, essential independent living skills and mobility training.
We continually strive to raise awareness of the impact that sight and hearing loss can have on a person’s life through our Sensory Awareness Training and our partnerships with key organisations.
Sensing Change staff are based throughout Suffolk and our offices accessible to individuals are in Ipswich and Lowestoft.
